What should be included on a vision board?

It should include anything that inspires you. For example, create a story about where you see yourself in five years. Include details such as the specific brand and type of shoes you'll be wearing, the job you have, and the furniture in each room of your home. A vision board should be created for the areas of your life that you want to improve, so if it includes 2 or 3 specific areas, so be it.

If there are memories that you associate with the birth of a specific vision, those are the ones that should appear on the board. You can have anything from name tags, thank you notes, trinkets, key rings, dry leaves, buttons, magnets, garlands of lights, etc. The vision board ideas below will help you understand how to create an empowerment board with a combination of images and text. When you make your vision board and display it in a place where you can see it every day, it helps you remember the big picture and what your ultimate purpose in life is.

While a vision board won't do the hard work of achieving your goals for you, making them very clear has the advantage of clarifying what actions you can take and what decisions you can make to get closer to your final goal. People sometimes ask me if there is an “ideal number” of objectives that they should include in their vision panels. The purpose of having a vision board is to give you a powerful daily reminder of the reality you want to create. Your vision of your ideal life should not focus so much on “things”, but on how you want to FEEL.

As you brainstorm ideas for the vision board and gather your images, be sure to consider ALL areas of your life and make sure that your vision accurately describes what YOU want for your life, not what you or someone else think you should want. With that in mind, I encourage you to consider these tips before and after creating a vision board. That said, generally speaking, you'll want to make sure you have a decent-sized cardstock, cork board, or even a decent-sized metal board to serve as a backdrop for your vision. Once you've created your vision board, you can set it up as a home screen or screen saver, or put it in a slideshow to display it when your computer is idle.

Certain types of vision panels affect your quality of life more than others, and this category would be one of them. A vision board is a physical collection of items such as images, magazine clippings, words and quotes that visually affirm your goals and dreams.
